Ian Somerhalder Foundation

Ian Somerhalder is such an inspiration to me, not just because I love him as Damon Salvatore in The Vampire Diaries but also I love him because of his passion and concern for the environment. You really gotta love this man with an advocacy! :) He spearheaded the IS Foundation or Ian Somerhalder Foundation. Click this link for more info: http://www.isfoundation.com/

IS Foundation has many chapters all over the world. And I just knew recently that ISF Philippines exists (Thanks to ate Cha for informing me about it). I found them on twitter and so I tweeted them and asked how can I be part of the team? I'm glad that they replied to my tweet (thank you twitter you're such a big help!!) :)).

Today, I feel so worn out from all the demands in school and problems in our house. But ISF Philippines made me happy and completed my day because they gave me a chance to be part of their team. I'd be more than willing to share my knowledge and extend my help in this advocacy.

ISF_PHILIPPINES welcomes me to their team, and ate Cha too! :)

And look, ISF Philippines is now following me on twitter. :))

I'm encouraging everyone to support this environmental advocacy! Partake and help save our environment.

random thoughts while waiting for my 2:30pm class:
-will I make it this semester?
-will I be able to accomplish all my requirements?
-I hope so!
-Lord, please help me ace this semester. I badly need Your help especially in AS199 and AS194. :(
-first semester: GVs all the way
-my stomach crumbles whenever I think what's ahead for me this whole school year.

almost at the tip of losing it.

Just when I was about to lose my hope, enthusiasm and passion for one of my treasured possessions I have in college, an orgmate/friend messaged me and it was so inspiring. Her words uplifted me. And thanks also to some good friends who showed their comfort (it may not be physically, but I really appreciate it). All of these kind words really helped for me not to lose it and give it up. I know I screwed up many times but not this time, I'm not going to let things screw up again. I'm sure we are going to pull this off.

I want to share what this friend of mine told me:

"I told myself when I left UPS that I'll never dwell on anything that has something to do with the current leadership team. But I need to give my piece as i've been there, and i was able to handle it.

Remember this, leaders affect, not otherwise. Continue to struggle and do things on your own if that's the only thing to make this thing pass excellently.Never lose your will, nor think you are doing too much compared to them.. If you let those thoughts infect you, you will easily give up - then, that's not passion. I just wouldn't know what Erap was thinking when the entire Philippines was against him, but kudos, he manage to dwell on things alone - gracefully. I can't blame them for not having the 'it' for the things that you do. Nor can I blame you for losing your passion for this one because of them. This is character building. During Lovestrock, we felt, the four of us, doing things on our own. But we never complained, yes we did, but we keep those coming on our own, and we continue to infect enthusiasm to the organization - though sa totoo lang, even I, felt this: Baka hindi to maging successful. But we never talked, never let anyone feel we have doubts, nor let even a single one feel that we are discouraged to work because no one is helping us. Remember, being mad because you are not being helped on things is PASSION to succeed - The WANT to win. Being discouraged on the other hand is a different thing - the worst possible scenario that could happen.

I really feel you. But this things is just about mindset. Now that I am working, I feel deeply what leadership truly means. I thought before it's just being organize, being able to do this, to do that, to delegate this, to raise funds more than enough. ERRR. no. I couldn't even explain what leadership is all about now. I am not sure if I made my point clear. Just hold on to the idea that when we were in your position, we also felt your clamour. it truly sucks, but I care no more, because the end goal stands - this too shall pass, and it will pass excellently, better than the former year.

Execom, good job so far! Yes, we hear what's happening even though we are so away, seemingly - we don't care. When the world is nearly collapsing, remember, never think of dying, start building an spaceship, and someone has to learn how to drive it."

From Ate Grace Tanedo.

Really inspring. :) Thank you so much ate Grace.

Goodbye summer 2011...

I have to admit that I experienced hardships this summer due to the subjects I took this summer class but Summer 2011 was my best summer so far!!!

Three reasons why I love Summer 2011. :))

First, I surpassed my summer class with flying colors. My professors really challenged me to do my best.  Taking PI 100 and AS 192 was worth it. My endeavors paid off. I'm proud of what I achieved and what I've become after taking the said subjects.

In PI 100, our group got a "sobrasaliente" (excellent) grade for our "Lakbay-aral" and our project was featured at Sir Siao Campoamor's blog. For complete photos and features just browse it in the appended link. http://siaobanahaw.multiply.com/journal

with my groupmates for our PI 100 "Lakbay-aral sa Intramuros"

In AS 192, the essays and exhibit study guides we did for the class were posted on tumblr. Seeing my works and contributions in an online site gives me a feeling of happiness and contentment. Feel free to read my works and my classmates' works too. http://kiritica.tumblr.com/

A snapshot of our class' tumblr. The thumbnails are the works we did for the class.

Second, I had the chance to have an out of the country trip. (see previous blog posts) :)))

And third, this is the summer where I had many spontaneous doings with my spontaneous friends, most of the time with Yam, Ervin and Bahm. Thank you Twitter because our "lakwatsa" moments became possible. One tweet or just one text then we're ready to go and do something that will kill our boredom.

How spontaneous are we? Just look at the pictures below.

1. This was after we went to Marquee Mall to see Ervin but he left already. BOOO! Then when we got home at Yam's house, we took for granted her laptop's photobooth (lol), did some covers of songs like The Man who Can't be Moved, Hanging by a Moment, Torete, etc. and we also watched movies ( A Walk to Remember and The Notebook). While watching A Walk to Remember, I burst into tears. My friends laughed at me because all throughout I was crying. BOO me! hahaha

2. Kung Fu Panda 2 then ate at Xtremely Xpresso.

Kung Fu Panda 2 moviemates!
3.  Katy Perry Night! Bahm made a margarita drink then played games using Moniegold tamarind candies. We played in pairs. Then afterwards, we played cops and robbers. FUN NIGHT!

welcome back aaron and yhow! We missed you!

Katy Perry teams! (we look haggard already)
And the LOSERS are... TEAM E.T. (Miele and Ervin) hahahahaha!!!!

4. X-Men First Class. This is the second movie I watched this summer vacation. And I loved it! I also love the characters and those who portrayed the characters (especially Havoc and Banshee) I'm in love with them. <3 Btw, we missed Yam! Usually, she's with us whenever we go to Marquee Mall.

My summer was filled with spontaneity. As much as I hate to say this, I should bid goodbye summer 2011, I will definitely miss you. :( In 3 days now, I'm going back to school again. Hello first semester 2011-2012. Good luck to me and to my friends too! Good luck everyone for the brand new school year!

Side trip to Macau!

Going to Macau was an unplanned trip, I was only booked for HK but then Ate Vanessa and I decided to have a side trip to Macau since it's just an hour away from HK via ferry ride. I got overwhelmed when I saw the tall buildings of Macau and most specially the casinos (but I didn't appreciate them that much because I'm not into gambling hahaha).

Anyway, here are some of the places, based from my experience, that you shouldn't miss once you go to Macau:

1. see the Kuan Iam Statue.

2. Macau Tower. Try the activities offered in Macau Tower such as Sky Jump, Bungy Jumping, Sky Walk, etc. and feel the rush of your adrenaline. Too bad I wasn't able to try any activity during my visit there because we don't have enough time and no enough money to pay for the activity.

3. try the lunch buffet at Pousada Marina Infante. This hotel offers different kinds of cuisine from Chinese to Japanese cuisine. Their sushi here is very delicious. And I also loved their Chinese fried rice, as the saying goes "Kanin pa lang, ulam na". I really ate a lot. Sinful day for me! :)))

4. visit the A-ma Temple. If you're a believer of Buddhism, you should never miss to visit this place. Well, I only have few background about Buddhism (lessons from high school and college) so I just enjoyed my temple visit and took different pictures for my memorabilia.

5. The Venetian Hotel. This is my most favorite place in Macau!!! It seems that I already went to Venice, Italy to see the gondolas. Unfortunately, we didn't have the luxury of time to ride a gondola because our ferry boat back to HK will leave at 5:00pm. We were at the Venetian at 4:00 and we need to reach the ferry terminal by 4:30pm. So we only have 30 minutes left and it's not enough for a gondola ride. Sad :((

6. Buy pasalubong. I don't know the English translation of this store but its delicacies are really good. Must buy: egg rolls and almond cookies! These are some of their specialties.

Though it was only a day trip to Macau, it was all worth it. :)) After this trip, I got eager to travel more to different places. :)) I should start saving now! GOAL: Have a solo trip paid by yours truly. I should achieve it SOON!
