18th Hot Air Balloon Fiesta

"The early bird catches the early worm" - this was our peg before heading to the 18th Hot Air Balloon Fiesta at Clark, Pampanga last Saturday (February 23, 2013). My friends and I woke up as early as 3:30 am and left Tarlac around 4:30 am just in time to witness the picturesque sunrise and of course, the different hot air balloons which was our motive in the first place. :))

Sunrise <3

As expected many people, either local or foreign, attended the festival.

Needles to say, one of the most awaited parts and highlights of the event was the flying of hot air balloons!!! :))

Since our primary purpose was to see the hot air balloons, we immediately left after they were flown. Though  we only stayed for a short period of time, we definitely had fun!

Happy Birthday Ervin!

To a man of few words but definitely one of the best guy friends in this side of the universe, I wish you a happiest birthday!!!

We've known each other since fourth grade but we only became closer in high school. Just like what I said earlier, he's just quite (quiet in the sense na hindi siya kasing ingay ng iba naming kaibigan) but man I'm warning you! When he is angry or not in the mood, he'll be the last person you want to see and talk to! hahaha. Kaya pag alam kong mainit na ang ulo niyan, lumalayo na ako. Ayokong "ma-Ervin". Our friend Nikki knows how it feels to be in the "ma-Ervin" situation. HAHAHA!

Anyway, some of the things I admire most about this friend of mine is his passion for what he does (i.e. music) and his remarkable love for his family. He is an epitome of the "You can't buy my happiness when I'm with my family" credo. I also admire how he loves his nephew so much. Pwede na ngang maging tatay yan eh. JK! :)))

Happy happy birthday Mr. Ervin Cao! We may have our differences but I'm glad I found my way having you as a friend! I'm always here for you. WE ARE ALL here for you no matter what! We love you! Looking forward to more kubo nights, spontaneous trips and amazing moments with you!! :))

Eating s'mores the "COOL" way

On a random Tuesday night, this is what my friends and I do - smoke pot along the street eat dessert! hahaha. Our photos may look weird as if we're smoking but that's not the real deal. We've been hearing about a "weird" dessert for quite some time. Plus, we wanted to be "pa-cool" so we tried the S'more Dragon's Breath at Iscreamist in Magiting Street, UP Village.

Since we're first timers. We kept on asking the staff there how to properly eat the s'more. So here are the basic simple steps:

1. Dip the s'more in the liquid nitrogen for 15 seconds (We were very particular with this. As in seryosong nagbilang kami. Mahirap na noh baka ano pang mangyari sa dila namin. hahaha)
2. Eat the s'more in a single bite.
3. And there you go, the smoke will come out from your mouth or nose as if you're like an angry dragon ready to slay your enemies.

Caution: Liquid nitrogen is kinda scary because it can burn your skin (according to Iscreamist's wall reminder) so you have to be extra careful in eating the s'more. It's not bad to ask assistance or advice from the staff at Iscreamist (just like what we did. Mukhang nakulitan na nga sina ate sa amin eh. Anyway, better safe than sorry) :)

we're not smoking okay? hahaha. Photo from Babsy's instagram (@babsya)

Awesome people at Graduate School

I never thought Graduate School at THE Ateneo (pardon the "THE" hahaha) would be this fun. Thanks to my MA classmates and now my friends! I know we've only known each other for a short time but we had an instant connection. I'm glad I found my way being friends with these awesome people! :) Ohhh the simple joys my friends bring me...

How I wish we can all still be classmates until we finish the MA program! Yessss I'm soooo clingyyyyyy like that hahahaha!

Have a break. Have a Dimsum Break.

I first knew about Dimsum Break when I read Patty Laurel's blog post BEST DIMSUM IN CEBU: Harbour City. It was mentioned in her blog that Dimsum Break is the sister company of Harbour City. I got curious so without having second thoughts, I tried Dimsum Break at SM North Edsa Annex during my free time.

Quail's Egg Siomai, Steamed Hakao, Sweet and Sour Pork, and their bestseller - Steamed Fried Rice!

Bacon Siomai and Steamed Siomai

I always have this thing for Chinese food so I really appreciated the food served at Dimsum Break. I agree with people who say "Steamed Fried Rice palang, busog ka na!" but what I like most about the place is the budget-friendly food it offers. Each order does not exceed 100 pesos. Price range is 65-70 pesos per dish.

TALES OF A FOODIE: Kung Hei Fat Choi at Primadeli

Kung Hei Fat Choi!!!! Since it's Chinese New Year, my faux Chinese friend Loren and I decided to do a little Chinese today so we watched Chinese Zodiac! hahaha I know that's so shallow! Can I just say? Jackie Chan is still amazing even though he has aged. *clap clap clap*

Anyway, the ironic thing here is instead of eating tikoy, noodles, dimsum or Chinese food after the movie, we dined at a restaurant where (more of) Western cuisine is served. Primadeli is a food place located at Tarlac City, behind SM Tarlac.

I love the alfresco setup of the place because you get to inhale fresh air since this is in the province. Plus, the location of Primadeli is not on the busy thoroughfares of Tarlac.

If I were to rate the food, it would be 6 out of 10. The pasta was salty. The pizza was not served hot. The syrup in the dessert was delicious and not too sweet for my palate but the vanilla ice cream has a rough texture. I was expecting it has a smooth texture like a gelato or even just the Selecta or Magnolia ice cream at least. But generally, food and service were okay. Kumbaga sa Filipino expression, SAKTO LANG.

Stacy's: A foodie's happy haven

Stacy's is probably one of the cutest restaurants I've ever visited. The restaurant's interior is fascinating and I just want to "tambay" or stay in the place the whole day. :))) HAHAHAHA!

The counter area, dessert station and the pink refrigerator easily caught my attention.

Let's proceed to the food. It is a bit pricey but I think it's worth it because the food is appetizing and delicious!! *I'm totally salivating now while thinking of the food we ate*

Every table gets a freebie. Yes, a freebie!!!! :))) Check it out..

They say to see is to believe so if you are not that convinced (but I hope I have a strong convincing powers hahaha), you may try it yourself and visit the restaurant for a food experience. Stacy's is located at Capitol Greenstreet Commercial Center, 1 Capitol Hills Drive, Quezon City, Philippines. It is a 10 to 15-minute drive from UP Diliman or Katipunan.

"Introducing a groundbreaking technique that seamlessly merges computer-generated and hand-drawn animation techniques, first-time director John Kahrs takes the art of animation in a bold new direction with the Oscar®-nominated short, "Paperman." Using a minimalist black-and-white style, the short follows the story of a lonely young man in mid-century New York City, whose destiny takes an unexpected turn after a chance meeting with a beautiful woman on his morning commute. Convinced the girl of his dreams is gone forever, he gets a second chance when he spots her in a skyscraper window across the avenue from his office. With only his heart, imagination and a stack of papers to get her attention, his efforts are no match for what the fates have in store for him. Created by a small, innovative team working at Walt Disney Animation Studios, "Paperman" pushes the animation medium in an exciting new direction."

Such a nice movie! It's an epitome of patience in love and serendipity. :) Oh how I love to fall in love again!
